Administrative Penalty Order. On February 2, 2012, EPA Region 6 issued an Administrative Penalty Order under the authority pursuant to the Clean Water Act (CWA)to Petco Petroleum Corp. located in Hinsdale, IL, proposing a $10,000 penalty. The Respondent’s oil field facility was a point source which discharged a pollutant to waters of the United States. The facility was inspected by the EPA on November 8, 2011. During the inspection, the EPA observed that a siphon hose was used to discharge oil field brine and produced wastewater to Tiger Creek. EPA issued a Cease and Desist Order to Petco Pettroleum on November 28, 2011. On June 22, 2012, the Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) for this case was filed with the court. The CAFO requires the Respondent to pay a penalty.
