Clean Water Act: Brine and Crude discharge: Respondent is an operator of an oil field facility located in the in the Northwest Quarter of Section 36, Township 29 North, Range 11 East, Osage County, Oklahoma. On June 3, 2008, the EPA conducted an inspection at the facility and observed the facility had discharged brine to an unnamed tributary of Hulah Lake. The tributary is located approximately 100 yards down gradient from the facility. Hulah Lake is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operated lake serving as a surface source of drinking water for the City of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Rural Water Districts of Hulah and Birchview. Relief: The EPA is issuing a Class 1 Administrative Complaint which proposes a penalty of $17,001.
