Case summary

Based on the review of the January 10, 2008, CAFO annual compliance inspection conducted by the EPA, violations were identified to the Clean Water Act’s NPDES Program. The violations included failure to construct proper containment structures for the compost areas to retain and/or direct any runoff into the animal waste retention structure (AWRS), maintain employee training records in the pollution prevention plan (PPP), maintain current wastewater samples in the PPP, remove large weeds (tumbleweeds) from the exterior AWRS berm walls and mow grass covering, and document the AWRS berm construction in the PPP.
