Case summary
On November 12, 2007, PPG Industries Inc. disclosed EPCRA 313 non-reporting violations and data-quality errors for their Westlake, LA facility. This disclosure consisted of non-reporting violations for hydrochloric acid aerosols, nitrate compounds, and polycyclic aromatic compounds for 2004-2006; and nickel for 2004; in addition to data quality errors for copper and lead for 2004-2005; chromium for 2006; and benzene, dichlorobenzene, naphthalene, and toluene for 2004-2006. PPG corrected the violations and submitted Form R reports to EPA and the state of Louisiana. On June 10, 2008, EPA issued a Notice of Determination waiving the gravity-based penalties.
