Case summary

Jackson Investments Class 1 Administrative Order Docket No. CWA-06-2006-1918 VIOLATIONS: The Respondent's oil field facility was a point source discharge of pollutants, specifically oil field brine (produced water), to the receiving waters of Henderson Creek, located at 33 deg. 24.478' North latitude and 98 deg. 36.552' West longitude, Archer County, Texas. Henderson Creek is a tributary to the West Fork of the Trinity River, which is on the 303(d) list for impairment due to high chlorides and total dissolved solids. The discharge of brine was documented during an inspection conducted on both November 1, 2005. RELIEF: The Order specifies that the Respondent should take steps to cease all discharges of pollutants and to take the necessary steps to prevent future discharges and remediate salt contaminated soils. Additionally, the Order asks the Respondent to install an automatically activated sump pump and to install secondary containment around the brine storage tanks and saltwater transfer pump. A follow-up inspection will determine the extent of compliance with the Order. Technical Contact: Chris Lister 5-6672.
