Richard Smith CWA-06-2006-1720 OKU000577 VIOLATIONS: The Respondent's oil field facility was a point source discharge of pollutants, specifically produced water, to the receiving waters of a tributary of Bird Creek, located in the Northeast Quarter of Section 7, Township 21 North, Range 13 East, Tulsa County, Oklahoma. An August 17, 2005 EPA inspection documented the discharge of brine from the facility. RELIEF: The Order specifies that the Respondent should also take steps to cease all discharges of pollutants and to neutralize the brine contaminated area east of the facility by applying soil amendments to neutralize the sodium chloride. Additionally, the Order asks the Respondent to consider: (1) Repair leaking equipment; (2) construct secondary containment; and (3) install an automatically activated sump pump.
