Fitzgerald Oil Company CWA-06-2004-2390 OKU000525 VIOLATIONS: The Respondent's tank battery was a point source of discharge of pollutants, specifically oil field brine, to the receiving waters of a tributary to Polecat Creek, located in the Southeast Quarter of Section 14, Township 6 South, Range 6 West, Jefferson County, Oklahoma. The discharge of brine was documented during a August 26, 2004 inspection. RELIEF: The Order specifies that the Respondent should also take steps to cease all discharges of pollutants and to neutralize the brine contaminated areas surrounding and down gradient of the facility and the areas surrounding and down gradient of the saltwater disposal line by applying soil amendments to neutralize the sodium chloride. Additionally, the Order asks the Respondent to consider: (1) remove a pipe which could discharge contaminants; (2) construct secondary containment; and (3) repair or replace equipment that is leaking.
