Case summary
On July 23, 2026, Region 5 filed an Expedited Settlement Agreement (ESA) with UOP LLC (UOP) of Des Plaines, Illinois to simultaneously commence and conclude an administrative penalty action regarding alleged violations of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). From a March 2025 inspection, the EPA determined that UOP violated RCRA by accumulating hazardous waste in a manner non-compliant with the conditions for storage of hazardous waste without a permit. The facility has since corrected the violations.
