Polynt owns and operates a facility in Sandusky, Ohio that conducts Miscellaneous Coating Manufacturing (MCM) operations including the manufacture of gel coats using styrene, methyl methacrylate, and other raw materials. At the Facility, Polynt operates mixers subject to the MCM NESHAP and Title V Permit conditions. Region 5 identified CAA violations through a March 20, 2023, inspection and an August 14, 2024, Section 114 information request. Polynt exceeded applicable Ohio SIP VOC limits, also found in the facility?s Title V Permit, and failed to demonstrate compliance with HAP limits. Polynt also violated MCM NESHAP requirements to set operating limits based on initial compliance conditions, conduct 5‑year performance tests, and meet recordkeeping, notification, and reporting duties.
