Case summary

A Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) is being filed for American Iron Oxide Company, Portage, Indiana (Amrox) and Magnetics International Incorporated, Burns Harbor, Indiana (MII) to resolve violations regarding National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for Steel Pickling-HCl Process Facilities and Hydrochloric Acid Regeneration Plants at 40 C.F.R. Part 63, Subpart CCC (the Steel Picking NESHAP). Amrox and MII have violated the operational, maintenance, testing and monitoring requirements of the Steel Pickling NESHAP at its Portage and Burns Harbor, Indiana facilities. On May 8, 2017, both Amrox and MII were dissolved and the facilities sold to PVS Steel Services. Neither Amrox or MII have an ownership or operating interest in the Portage or Burns Harbor, Indiana plants. This CAFO requires Amrox and MII, through its holding company, to pay a penalty of $50,000 and resolves the FOV issued to Amrox and MII on June 28, 2016.
