Case summary

On June 27, 2014, an authorized EPA representative conducted a compliance inspection of the Ardent Mills Alton Illinois flour mill to determine its compliance with the Risk Management Program (RMP) regulations promulgated pursuant to Section 112(r) of the Act. On September 17, 2014, EPA sent your facility a request for information regarding your RMP. This request was issued because our records indicated that your facility had not filed an updated RMP within the 5-year deadline as required by RMP regulations. Based on your response submitted on September 26, 2014 and the June 27, 2014 inspection, EPA determined that Respondent had violated the following regulations: 1. Respondent failed to annually certify the operating procedures. 2. Respondent failed to prepare and maintain training records. 3. Respondent failed to revise and update its risk management plan. The civil penalty for this was $3,040.00.
