EPA v. APPLETON ELECTRIC, LLC ACO
Case summary
On November 19, 2014, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency conducted an inspection of the Appleton Electric LLC (Appleton) facility in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During the inspection, we found the air pollution control system for Appleton?s scrap preheater was not operated and maintained with good air pollution control practices for minimizing emissions. We saw a steady stream of particulate matter emissions from the scrap preheater that was not captured/vented to the preheater baghouse. To address our concerns with the scrap preheater ventilation system, Appleton is required to install an additional section of hooding over the scrap preheater that will vent emissions to its baghouse.
