Case summary

This Settlement Agreement provides for the performance of removal actions by Respondent and the payment of certain response costs incurred by the US at or in connection with the Peltier Glass Site located at 518 Deleon Street, in LaSalle County, Ottawa, Illinois. Peltier Glass Company operated under Curran Group from 2005 to 2010. During 2005 to 2010, Peltier Glass Company used hazardous substances in their glass manufacturing processes including lead, cadmium, and chromium. On July 31, 2013 and August 1, 2013, the U.S. EPA conducted site assessments at the Peltier Glass Site; the sampling reveals that some of these hazardous substances became hazardous wastes when spilled onto the soil, floor and drains. EPA Site Assessment sampling found lead, cadmium, chromium, arsenic, barium, selenium, and mercury in the soil I102and in debris within the on-site building.
