Century Sun Metal Treating Company is a metal heat treating company. The USEPA conducted an EPCRA compliance inspection at the facility on January 22, 2014. USEPA and the Respondent agreed to the Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) and the penalty and Supplemental Environmental Project (SEP) described herein. The Respondent did not submit the completed Tier II form for Calendar Year 2013 by March 1, 2014 to the State Emergency Response Commission (SERC), the Local Emergency Planning Commission (LEPC), and the Traverse City Fire Department. Respondent agreed to a civil penalty of $26,093, and agreed to perform a SEP within six weeks of the date of this CAFO designed to protect the environment by assisting the Traverse City Fire Department with the purchase of a Polaris all-terrain vehicle, including a trailer and communication equipment for wild land medical, fire and rescue. The Respondent agreed to spend at least $45,426 to assist in the purchase of said equipment.
