Case summary
USEPA, Region V, and Sysco Chicago have agreed to the settlement of this action before the filing of a complaint. In consideration of Sysco's size of business, its full compliance history, its good faith efforts to comply, the parties agreed to enter into an Expedited Settlement Ageement (ESA) to resolve civil penalties for the following violations of the Clean Air Act Section 112(r(7)for the total penalty amount of $1,440.00. USEPA determined that Sysco had failed to timely address all recommendations of the process hazard analysis; Sysco failed to provide refresher training to the operators on the operating procedures; Sysco failed to follow recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices for inspection procedures; and Sysco failed to timely correct deficiencies of the ventilation system in the engine room.
