EPA v. KENOSHA STEEL CASTINGS
Case summary
EPA inspected Kenosha Steel Castings (KSC) on February 6, 2012 and January 13, 2014. During the inspections, EPA discussed noncompliance with the facility, specifically that the company was subject to the Area Source Foundry MACT (40 CFR 63 Subpart ZZZZZ) and that it was required to maintain the pollution controls associated with its electric arc furnace (EAF). Because of EPA's inspections, KSC: 1) made modifications to the ventilation system associated with its EAF (completed October 2012); and 2) repaired leaking duct-work at the EAF baghouse (completed January 2014). To assure ongoing compliance, KSC will prepare an operation & maintenance plan, subject to EPA review, for the EAF ventilation system and baghouse.
