Case summary

This Settlement Agreement concerns the Cadie Auto Salvage Site ( Site ) located in Belvidere, Boone County, Illinois. In response to the release or threatened release of hazardous substances at or from the Site, EPA undertook response actions at the Site pursuant to Section 104 of CERCLA. In particular, EPA removed numerous abandoned gas cylinders that were discovered in a trailer on the Site. The removal was completed in December 2010. In performing the response actions, EPA has incurred response costs at or in connection with the Site. EPA alleges that Settling Parties and Settling Federal Agencies are responsible parties pursuant to Section 107(a) of CERCLA, and are liable for response costs incurred or to be incurred at or in connection with the Site.
