On May 1, 2013, EPA issued a Notice of Intent to file a complaint for civil penalties of $177,500 to Aux Sable for 143 effluent violations of Aux Sables National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit issued by the State of Illinois Environmental Protection Agency for Aux Sables facility in Morris, Illinois.
