Case summary
The State of IL and the IL Department of Publi Health sampled residential wells in Wedron in October 2011 and found the private drinking water wella were contaminated with benzene and other volatile organic compounds. The Wedron Silica Company, Technisand, Incorporated, and Lockheed Martin Corporation have agreed in the AOC to perform investigations at the site that will identify, confirm, or exclude potential sources of contamination. The AOC requires sampling in areas where current soil contamination exists, and where historical underground storage tank, oil, gas, coal house storage, bulk oil storage, fueling, landfill, and laboratory operations occurred at the site. The parties will collect soil samples, followed by installation of ground water monitoring wells where soil sample results are above state action levels.
