Case summary

On 10/16/2009 the EPA conducted a CAA 112(r)(7) compliance inspection which found that the facility had not implemented the Risk Management Program as required. In addition, the inspection revealed that a release of 1,054 lbs. of anhydrous ammonia into the environment had occurred on 5/27/2007. The release was over 10 times the RQ of 100 lbs. The NRC was never notified of the release and the LEPC was notified approximately 13 hours after the release occurred.
