Case summary

This Order requires performance of removal actions in connection with the release of jet fuel at or from a facility (10 inch pipeline) at or near the Milwaukee County General Mitchell Internation Airport located at 5300 South Howell Ave. in Milwaukee, Wi. On January 23, 2012, Hazmat teams responded to the discharge incident at South 1st Street and West Layton Ave. (Northwest boundary of the airport) which is adjacent to Wilson Park Creek. The discharge reached Wilson Park Creek, the Kinnickinnic River and the adjoining shorelines. There is also a threat of discharge into Oak Creek which provides drainage to the south end of the airport and flows into Lake Michigan. All four of the above mentioned bodies of water are navigable waters of the United States.
