EPA v. LAKESIDE LITHOGRAPHY LLC. (SB)
Final Order With Penalty
Case summary
The facility has violated it's requirements to capture and control its VOC emissions from entering into the air. In this settlement, the company has agreed to pay a penalty of $4,123. In addition, the company will also implement two supplemental environmental projects (SEP's) that reduce air emissions into the Chicago Pilsen neighborhood. The first SEP requires control system changes (costing $40,000) to natural gas burners that reduce natural gas burning by the facility, and thereby reduces carbon dioxide (a greenhouse gas) emissions by 670,360 pounds per year. The second SEP (worth $15,000) consists of employing a qualified community-based organization to perform a lead poisoning prevention and care program for children living in the Pilsen Chicago EJ neighborhood. EPA understands that the focus of this reduction program is a daycare center in Pilsen.
