Case summary
Geotek Inc. (Geotek) is a designer, manufacturer and distributor of reinforced fiberglass pultrusion products for the electric utility and animal containment markets. Geotek is subject to the National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for Reinforced Plastic Composite Production and the NESHAP for Surface Coating of Plastic Parts and Production at 40 C.F.R. Part 63, Subparts WWWW and PPPP, respectively. On September 18, 2008, EPA issued an FOV to Geotek alleging failure to submit various reports within the timeframe specified by the regulations and to limit emissions to no more than 60 weight percent of the organic HAP for its pultrusion line as required by the NESHAP Subpart WWWW. Additionally, EPA alleged violations of NESHAP Subpart PPPP because Geotek failed to submit initial notification report and notification of compliance status within the timeframe specified by the regulations. Geotek will pay a penalty of $151,000 to resolve the violations.
