EPA v. VESUVIUS USA
Final Order With Penalty
Case summary
Vesuvius was found to violate the leak repair, reporting, and relate follow-up requirements under the Protection of Stratospheric Ozone Standards. In response to the Finding of Violation, Vesuvius retrofitted all of its industrial cooling equipment to use non-regulated materials (including a number of units that were not found in violation). To resolve the violation, Vesuvius has agreed to pay a $25,000 penalty and complete a $215,000 SEP. It is important to note that the SEP will also result in the reduction of 237 tons per year of carbon dioxide.
