U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) Region 5 issued a Finding of Violation (FOV) on March 31, 2003 to A. Finkl & Sons for its facility located at 2011 North Southport Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. Finkl will perform two Supplemental Environmental Projects at a cost of $620,000. The first project will install low NOx-generating burners in one of the plant's furnaces, and the second will provide for the installation of oxidation catalysts on municipal vehicles such as garbage trucks owned by the City of Chicago to reduce emissions of volatile organic compounds, particulate, and carbon monoxide.
