Case summary
The Demmer Properties, LLC (Demmer) facility consists of approximately 40 acres located in Lansing, Michigan. The facility has been used for wheel manufacturing from the late 1800s. Past operations have included machining, pressing, metal etching, electrodeposition painting, quality control testing, and wastewater treatment. Currently, the facility is leased to Comprehensive Logistics, and Distribution Management Associates. Contamination at the facility consists of groundwater contamination by chlorinated solvents and sulfate. In addition, fill material is present at the facility which contains elevated levels of lead, iron, and manganese. Demmer has expressed interest in pursuing a monitored natural attenuation remedy for the groundwater contamination.
