Case summary
On September 23, 2004, EPA issued Notice and Findings of Violation to Pickens Plastics Company for violating the Ohio SIP and its Title V permits. EPA found that Pickens Plastics Company failed to stay below or at the styrene and acetone emission limits in accordance to the Ohio SIP and its Title V Permit. As part of the settlement documented in the CAFO, two Supplemental Environmental Projects (SEPs) will be taken on by Pickens Plastics Company for a two-year period which is estimated to reduce Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) emissions by at least 2.45 tons per year and reduce Acetone emissions by 4.57 tons per year. This CAFO also requires Pickens Plastics Company to pay a civil penalty in the amount of $19,000.
