EPA v. E.I. du Pont de Nemours-Washington Works
Case summary
'This is a joint consent order with Region 3. A consent order issued by West Virginia DEP and DHH on 11/14/01 is also considered a portion of or addendum to this order. The chemical (aka C-8) is unregulated under the SDWA. Studies have shown that C8 is toxic to animals and persistent in humans. This consent agreement/order is a proactive approach. A team of toxicologists was formed under the order to determine screening levels for the different media to replace the original screening levels that were provided in the order originally. This joint consent order signed on March 11, 2002 only pertains to the SDWA. The West VA consent order is multi-media.'
