EPA v. EGS ELECTRICAL GROUP

Case summary

'The United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S.EPA) cited EGS, in a Notice of Violation, for failing to comply with the visible emission limits at P1, P10, and P11. EGS made process modifications at the plant and observed visible emissions at P1, P10 and P11. The results show visible emissions from P1, P10, and P11 are under the required 20% limits. As part of the settlement, EGS will retain a certified visible emissions observer to observe opacity from the stacks S1, S10, and S11 of P1, P10, and P11, respectively, on a weekly basis using U.S. EPA test Method 9 found at 40 CFR Part 60, Appendix A. EGS will also submit a quarterly report covering 3 months of weekly visible emissions readings to U.S. EPA.'
