Case summary

July 6, 2021 - CONSENT DECREE FILED BY THE COURTS. Under the terms of the Consent Decree, Kronospan will bring its operations into compliance with the Clean Water Act and its State Indirect Discharge Permit issued by the State of Alabama. The requirements include successfully identifying and removing, as verified by a third-party auditor, the objectionable solids in its process wastewater that have caused or contributed to interference with a publicly-owned treatment works (POTW). Kronospan will also be developing and implementing a pretreatment compliance training program and developing certain standard operating procedures for its facility. Kronospan estimates it will spend approximately $350,000 to provide this injunctive relief, which it will complete in less than three years.
