9/15/10 - EPA alleges CAA nonattainment New Source Review (NSR), and title V violations at Owens Brockway Glass Container, Inc.’s Atlanta, Georgia facility arising from the modification and operation of its glass melting furnaces without NSR pre-construction review. Owens’ Atlanta facility is a major source of sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxide (NOx), and particulate matter (PM). These pollutants are emitted from its furnaces. EPA alleges that Owens operated Furnaces A and E in violation of the Georgia SIP and title V of the CAA. EPA seeks injunctive relief and penalties for these violations.
