MOST OF THE CITY CONSISTS OF LAND OWNED AND BEING DEVELOPED BY GENERAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (GDC), WHICH HAS ABOUT TEN SUCH DEVELOPMENTS THROUGHOUT FLORIDA. GDU IS A WHOLLY- OWNED SUBSIDIARY OF GDC AND OWNS AND OPERATES WATER AND WASTEWATER TREATMENT UTILITIES IN MOST OR ALL OF GDC'S DEVELOPMENTS. THE CITY OF NORTH PORT HAS ABOUT 12,000 PEO- PLE, AND THE NORTH PORT WTP PRESENTLY HAS A .95 MGD DESIGN CAPACITY.
