Case summary
On May 18, 2026, the EPA filed a CERCLA Administrative Cost Recovery Settlement (Settlement) pursuant to Section 122(h) of CERCLA, 42 U.S.C. 9622(h), with Isolite Corporation, in connection with the Safety Light Superfund Site, in Bloomsburg, Columbia County, Pennsylvania (Site). Isolite Corporation allegedly arranged for the disposal of hazardous substances at the Site and was providing Site security pursuant to a 2007 Administrative Order. Also on May 18, 2026, pursuant to this Settlement, Isolite Corporation paid the EPA $600,000.00 plus $58 of interest to the Safety Light Site's special account to resolve its potential liability under Section 106 and 107(a) of CERCLA for response costs incurred by EPA in connection with the Site. EPA will use the Settlement funds to temporarily conduct Site security until the final remedy is completed.
