Case summary

On July 9, 2026, Region 3 entered a Consent Agreement and Final Order with Daniel's Farm Store ( DFS ) that initiated and resolved alleged violations of the CAA and its implementing regulations related to wood stoves. The violations arise out of DFS selling woods stoves that did not have labels indicating compliance with relevant emissions standards and that were not otherwise exempt from those requirements as cook stoves, from at least August 2020 through June 2024. Such violations frustrate the implementation of regulatory programs designed to reduce emissions of harmful air pollutants, a goal of the CAA, and this enforcement action is in furtherance of Administrator Zelden's Pillar 1: Clean Air, Land, and Water for Every American. The settlement required DFS to certify compliance with applicable CAA requirements and pay a $48,649 penalty. PADEP was provided notice of the planned enforcement action and had no objections.
