Case summary

On May 28, EPA Region 3 filed an Expedited Settlement Agreement and Final Order, simultaneously commencing and concluding an administrative action proceeding against Columbia Woodworking, LLC located at 935 Brentwood Road, NE in Washington, DC 20018 ( Facility ) for violations of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act ( RCRA ) and the authorized District of Columbia Hazardous Waste Management Regulations ( DCHWMR ), discovered during EPA's compliance evaluation inspection of the Facility on May 21-22, 2025. The Facility is a small quantity generator of hazardous waste ( HW ) that is a custom woodworking and architectural millwork company. The violations in the settlement include failure to: make a hazardous waste determination at the point of generation, mark containers of hazardous waste with an accumulation start date, label containers of hazardous waste with the words Hazardous Waste , inspect hazardous waste central accumulation area at least weekly, and to post appropriate emergency information at the facility. Region 3 notified DOEE, which had no objections to this action. Per the terms of the Expediated Settlement Agreement, the Facility will pay a civil penalty in the amount of $6,250.00. This action supports the Administrator's Pillar 1: Clean Air, Land, and Water for Every American.
