Case summary

On December 05, 2025, the Director of the Superfund and Emergency Management Division signed an Administrative Settlement Agreement and Order on Consent ( Settlement ) to conduct a Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study ( RI/FS ) at the DuPont Spruance Site, located in Richmond, Chesterfield County, Virginia ( Site ). Under the terms of the Settlement Agreement, DuPont Specialty Products USA, LLC ( DuPont ) will perform the RI/FS and reimburse EPA for its future response costs, including oversight costs, associated with preparation of the RI/FS. EPA negotiated the Settlement using the Superfund Alternative Approach ( SAA ), where the goal is to facilitate settlements and cleanups at sites that are similar in caliber to sites on the Superfund National Priorities List ( NPL ), without listing them on the NPL. This Settlement is entered into under the authority of CERCLA Sections 104, 107, and 122 and supports Pillar One of EPA's Powering the Great American Come Back- Clean Air, Water and Land for all Americans.
