Case summary
On June 3, 2026, Region 3 filed an Administrative Order on Consent that requires the Erie City Sewer Authority and the City of Erie (Respondents) to correct violations of the CWA at the Respondents wastewater treatment plant facility located 68 Port Access Road, Erie, Pennsylvania 16507 (Facility). The Respondents are subject to an NPDES permit issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The alleged violations include failure to meet effluent limitations and failure to conduct proper operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and collection system. Under the Order, Respondents have agreed to undertake corrective actions, including improving operations and maintenance at the facility. The settlement is in support of Administrator Zeldin's Pillar 1: Clean Air, Land, and Water for Every American. EPA notified Pennsylvania in advance of this action and received no objection.
