Case summary

On August 29, 2024, the EPA Region 3 issued an Administrative Order on Consent ( AOC ) to Scattered Acres, Inc., the owner and operator of the concentrated animal feeding operation located 900 Galen Hall Road, Reinholds, PA 17569 (the Farm ). The Farm failed to implement measures and best management practices to prevent the discharge from raw material storage areas to surface waters. The Farm agreed to construct a mortality composting building and submit the required permit applications to bring it back into compliance within the timeframes outlined in the AOC. The Farm is not in an area of EJ concern. The EPA has consulted with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection during the development of this action.
