Case summary
On August 26, 2021, the Director of ECAD, Region 3, entered into an Administrative Order on Consent with Joel Hetrick doing business as Hetrickdale Farms ( Respondent ) located at 69 Hetrick Road, Bernville, Pennsylvania ( Facility ) to address alleged violations of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) General Discharge Permit for Animal Feeding Operations, NPDES Permit No. PAG123769. Respondent owns and operates a dairy CAFO consisting of approximately 1,175 mature dairy cows, 243 dairy heifers, 524 dairy calves, and approximately 270 steers at the Facility. The violations included, among others, failure to inspect the water lines at the Facility; failure to maintain mortality records; failure to have adequate manure storage capacity and failure to install depth markers at storage lagoons. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection were notified about this action.
