On August 19, 2020, Region 3 issued a Notice of Warning to Vestergaard Frandsen, Inc. of Baltimore, MD for sale and distribution of misbranded pesticide devices. The pesticidal device, LifeStraw Community , is a water filter that was imported into the United States through the Port of Baltimore, MD and determined to be misbranded due to missing label information. Vestergaard Frandsen, was allowed to bring the misbranded product into the country and relabel it to bring it into compliance with FIFRA. FIFRA regulates pesticidal products, which includes any substance or mechanical device intended to prevent, destroy, repel, kill, or mitigate a pest; this also includes filters intended to kill or filter out bacteria. Sale and distribution of a misbranded pesticide device is a violation of FIFRA
