Case summary
On January 13, 2020, a Notice of Warning was issued to Halosil International Inc. for the sale and distribution of pesticides with misbranding and claims that differed from those associated with the product's registration. Labels for the pesticide HaloMist were found listing medical use sites not found on the EPA-accepted label for the product. In addition, a review was conducted of websites promoting Halosil and its products and statements were found pertaining to product safety and implying endorsement by EPA of Halosil's products. As a result, Halosil International Inc. was cited for violation of FIFRA 12(a)(1)(B) - the sale and distribution of pesticides with substantially differing claims, and FIFRA 12(a)(1)(E) - the sale and distribution of misbranded pesticides.
