Case summary

On September 30, 2019, Region 3 issued a NORA to Vestergaard Frandsen, Inc. for importing LifeStraw Flex With Collapsible Squeeze Bottle . This is a reusable water bottle with a water filtrater that claims to protect against bacteria, parasites, and certain chemicals for outdoor sports, travel, survival and emergencies. While pesticide devices do not require registration under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), they must be produced in an EPA - registered establishment, and are also subject to FIFRA label, reporting and import requirements. The product in this import shipment was produced in a facility that was not registered with the EPA. The violation was discovered through spot-checks of U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Automated Commercial Environment database which contains information on all product being imported into the U.S.
