Case summary

On November 2, 2016, EPA inspectors conducted an inspection of Prootenergy Natural Foods, Inc. located in Cambridge, Maryland, ( facility ) to determine compliance with the Risk Management Program ( RMP ), Clean Air Act 112(r)(7) and the implementing regulations of 40 CFR Part 68. The facility is a food manufacturing/packaging facility that packages various perishable products. The facility utilizes 14,000 pounds of anhydrous ammonia in its refrigeration system. Based on the inspection observations, it was found that the facility failed to document that equipment complied with recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices in accordance with 40 C.F.R. ?68.65(d)(2).
