Case summary

On May 15, EPA issued an amendment to the Administrative Order (AO), issued on July 15, 2015 to the Joseph Silvestri and Son, Inc. (JSS) mushroom farm located in Garnet Valley, PA for violations of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) regulations. The violations included failure to conduct required monitoring, develop a feasibility study to identify and recommend corrosion control treatment (CCT) for copper, and install and operate corrosion control treatment for its public drinking water system. JSS had completed the monitoring requirements and submitted a feasibility study and recommendation for CCT, yet failed to install and operate CCT in accordance with the schedule in the AO. The amendment requires JSS to submit all required state permit applications for the installation of the CCT, install and commence operation of the CCT within timeline set forth in the amended AO schedule.
