Case summary

On May 27, 2014, the Director of the Hazardous Site Cleanup Division signed a CERCLA Administrative Cost Recovery Settlement pursuant to Section 122(h) of CERCLA, 42 U.S.C. � 9622(h), with Absco Inc., Sandra Blumberg and Marvin Blumberg, in connection with the Absco Scrap Yard Superfund Site, in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. Absco had previously performed a removal action, including but not limited to, excavation and removal of contaminated soil, temporary capping of contaminated areas and appropriate post-removal Site controls pursuant to a 2005 Administrative Order by Consent. Under the Agreement, Absco Inc., Sandra Blumberg and Marvin Blumberg will pay $85,000.00 to the EPA Hazardous Substances Superfund to resolve its potential liability under Section 107(a) of CERCLA for response costs incurred by EPA in connection with the Site. Notice of the Administrative Cost Recovery Settlement will be published in the Federal Register for a thirty-day public comment period.
