Case summary
On September 22, 2008, Region III entered into a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) with the Board of Education of Talbot County Public Schools, located at 12 Magnolia Street, in Easton, MD, to address violations of the Toxic substances Control Acts (TSCA) Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) asbestos in schools requirements. The schools are located in Easton, MD. The LEA failed to comply with the following AHERA requirements: parent/teacher/employee organization notification; and failure to conduct AHERA reinspection for asbestos containing building materials (ACBM). This CAFO will prevent asbestos exposure for approximately 600 students, throughout 11 schools in the district from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.
