Case summary
SIL Clean Water LLC owns and operates the North Fork Modular Reclamation and Reuse Facility and portions of a collection system located at Timberville, in Rockingham County, Virginia. The Facility receives wastewater from the poultry processing operations of Pilgrims Pride Corporation and Cargill Turkey Products, Inc., as well as sanitary wastewater from the towns of Timberville and Broadway, Virginia. The privately owned treatment works has had numberous effluent limitation violations for phosphorus and nitrogen and other pollutants, with exceedances as high as 800 percent of the permit limit. It continues to violate the permit issued by Virginia's Department of Environmental Quality despite receiving several notices of violations from VDEQ.
