EPA AND CITY OF LEWES, DELAWARE POTW SETTLE ENFORCEMENT CASE FOR PENALTIES AND SUPPLEMENTAL ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT On August 10, 2005, the City of Lewes, Delaware, on behalf of the City���s Board of Public Works, settled chronic Clean Water Act violations at the City���s wastewater treatment plant. The City has agreed to pay a $33,000 penalty and complete a $22,000 project to monitor the level of dissolved oxygen in Lewes-Rehoboth Canal, downstream from the plant. This monitoring, which constitutes a Supplemental Environmental Project, will improve the water quality data available to the City of Lewes, the State of Delaware, EPA and interested citizens.
