Case summary

On December 29, 2003, EPA signed Administrative Order by Consent with Weis Markets Inc., ( Weis ) for a removal response action at property owned by Weis at the Hamburg - Mill Creek Site ( Site ). The Site is comprised of areas of the Creek that are contaminated with lead mainly due to disposed battery casings along portions of the Creek. Weis will perform an extent of contamination study to delineate the amount of lead contamination at the property owned by Weis. This agreement allows EPA to focus its Fund-lead efforts on other sites in the Region. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was notified of this action
