THE BRADFORD SANITARY AUTHORITY DISCHARGES RAW SEWAGE INTO NAVIGABLE WATERS. THIS IS A VIOLATION OF THE CLEAN WATER ACT EPA SEEKS BOTH PENALTIES AND INJUNCTIVE RELIEF TO CORRECT THESE BYPASS VIOLATIONS. THE BRAFORD SANITATION AUTHORITY HAS ALSO FAILED TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS IN INS NPDES PERMIT REARDING PRETREATMENT. THIS SEP ENTAILS CAPPING ABANDONED WELLS TO PREVENT POTENTIAL LEAK OF CRUDE PETROLEUM INTO THE ENVIRONMENT (ABOVE OR BELOW GROUND). QUALIFYING THE AMOUNT OF CRUDE THAT MIGHT POLLUTE THE ENVIRONMENT IF THIS PREVENTATIVE SEP WAS NOT UNDERTAKEN CANNOT BE DETERMINED AT THE TIME. IT IS ESTIMATED THAT 10 WELLS WILL BE CAPPED.
